‘CPI struggling for farmers of state’

IMPHAL, Aug 23: The 63rd foundation day of the Communist Party of India (CPI) organized by CPI, Manipur State Council, was held today at GM Hall, Imphal.

The foundation day was attended by Ph. Parijat, minister of health and family welfare, L. Iboyaima, secretary of CPI Manipur State Council, Moirangthem Ibohal, chairman of control commission of CPI Manipur State Council, N. Mangi, chairman of MANIDCO, Dr. Moirangthem Nara, president of AITUC Manipur State Unit, Th. Tomba, president of All Manipur Loumee Lup, and Y. Ibeni, president of All Manipur Nupi Marup, as the presidium members.

Speaking at the foundation day celebration, health minister Parijat stated that the CPI is a political party which has been striving to bring about an egalitarian society in the country. The Party has been struggling for the cause of farmers and workers who suffer the most at the hands of capitalists in the country, he said.

He further stated that the CPI being a constituent party of the SPF government has been doing commendable works for the people of the state. The state government would soon implement a Central sponsored health scheme in the state in which people belonging to the category of Below Poverty Line (BPL) would be given free medical facilities, he said.

The government has also started various health schemes for the workers in the unorganized sector. The workers are now provided with health scheme of Rs 30,000 if they happen to undergo medical treatment worth more than one lakh rupees, Parijat stated.

He also maintained that the CPI would always stand for the welfare of the people and help to bring about development through sincerity and labour.

The president of AITUC Manipur State Unit, Dr. Nara stated the CPI has its own strong principles and ideologies. The party has been working for the poor masses, especially in poverty elevation and other welfare measures, he said.

The first anniversary of half-monthly journal “Kholao Thakhay” was also held as a part of the foundation day.
