Imphal, Aug 24: Security forces arrested at least four militant cadres in separate counter insurgency operations launched in different parts of the state.
In the first incident, a combined team of Imphal West district police commandos and 39 AR arrested three cadres of the proscribed KCP (Noyon faction) from different places.
A statement issued by the SSP Imphal West district police, said the combined team arrested one cadre of the KCP (Noyon) this morning aaround 7:45 am from Thangmeiband Lilasingkhongnangkhong crossing, namely one Nongmaithem Soley Singh, 36, son of (L) N. Naba Singh of Lairenkabi Awang Leikai.
It said that on spot verification, the individual disclosed that he joined the outfit in the month of June, 2006 through one N. Naobi Singh alias Phillips, 36, son of N. Raghu Singh of Lairenkabi Awang Leikai. He was earlier arrested by AR in the month of October. Further the individual disclosed that he had collected a huge amount of money from the general public and handed over to Romita for party fund. One 9mm pistol with magazine having two live rounds was seized from his possession.
It stated that in further follow up action the team also arrested two more cadres of the same outfit from a rented house located at Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak namely Laishram (N) Nongmaithem (O) Romita, 34, son of N. Inaobi alias Romesh alias Pal, 34, of Lairenkabi Awang Leikai and Heirongbam (N) Nongmaithem (O) Menao, 30, wife of N. Soley of Lairenkabi Awang Leikai at present staying at Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai.
On the other hand, a KYKL cadre was arrested last evening by a joint team of Thoubal police and 21 Assam Rifles during frisking operations at Kakching bazar in Thoubal district of Manipur.
The arrested militant has been identified as one Puyam Inaocha, 25.
One 9mm pistol with a magazine and a Chinese hand grenade were said to have been recovered from the arrested cadre, informed a statement issued by the SPP Thoubal district police.
