Govt asked to review labor wages in view of price rise

IMPHAL, Aug 22: The JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO expressed their dissatisfaction over the recent decision of the cabinet in connection with the wages of laborers stating that the wages fixed has a vast difference with that of Central laborers.

A statement of the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO asserted that although the JAC appreciated the decision of the cabinet for the changes made recently it appealed to the Chief Minister and the concerned cabinet to review its decision and arrange an appropriate wage for the laborers of the state taking into consideration the price hike situation.

It also reminded the state government to press into action the agreement reached between the JAC and the government to rectify any pay anomaly at par with the 6th Central pay commission recommendation and implement the order of the revised pay within the next month. Further, it also reminded the government to pay the necessary allowances payable with the implementation of the recommendation of the revised pay.

At the same time, it also appealed to the government to discuss and resolve the regularization matter of the adhoc, contract, muster-roll and work-charge employees in the interest of the employees who have been serving the government for many years. The JAC also appealed for release of pending payment for those employees owing to the AMGEL objection.
