IMPHAL, Aug 22: The Manipur People’s Party (MPP) has decried the state government for failing to implement various development works and welfare schemes in the state despite highlighting them repeatedly in the media.

A release of the MPP has stated that the state government has been highlighting various programmes and policies in the media but in actuality the government has failed to implement the works. The ministers and MLAs of the SPF government have also been siphoning funds from the development works of the state, it said.

The recent oath taking ceremony on Sadbhavana Diwas led by chief minister O. Ibobi Singh is quite ridiculous as the government has neglected the welfare of the people, the release said adding that the pledge taken on that day by the state government to fulfill the desires of Rajiv Gandhi is just a way to deceive the people. Even the departed soul of Rajiv Gandhi would surely feel sorry to see the present condition of Manipur, it observed.

Further, the statement said that various welfare schemes like old age pension, Indira Awas Yojna (SSA) and others should be implemented by the state government in the real interests of the people rather than siphoning money from the schemes meant for the poor masses of the state.
