JNIMS takes off with its first regular classes

IMPHAL, Aug 18: Regular classes of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, have begun since yesterday after it was formally inaugurated by the Governor of the state, Gurbachan Jagat on August 16.

The director of JNIMS, Prof. Th. Biren and head of departments of pre-clinical departments delivered introductory lecture class to the students on the day of inauguration.

The induction of JNIMS is a landmark development of the state government which has been striving to establish a state run medical institution for uplifting health service facilities in the state.

The JNIMS has taken its first leap this year and it is the hope and aspiration of the people of the state that the medical college would be brought to the status of RIMS in a matter of few years.

At present, the JNIMS is accommodating a total of 100 students in its very first year of existence as the only state run medical college.
