KCP(MC) militants arrested from Indo-Bangla border in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, Aug 20: Three militants of a Manipur-based rebel group were arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF) from along the India-Bangladesh border in East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya today.

The militant identified as Laxman Meinom alias Naoba, 18, belonged to Kengleipak Communist Party Military Council (KCP-MC).

After receiving specific information, troops of the BSF personnel launched special operation and arrested Naoba at around 3am while he was infiltrating into Indian territory but two of his accomplices – Mangboi, 26, and Ibocha managed to flee back to Bangladesh.

They were later arrested by the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) who handed them over to the BSF.

The BSF said that no arms or ammunition were recovered from the militants’ possession.

All the apprehended militants have been handed over to the Meghalaya police for further disposal and legal action as per law.

The BSF (Meghalaya and Assam) Frontier has stepped up extra vigil and intensified operations on the international border to check illegal infiltration and trans-border crimes.
