Novel agriculture training by AR

IMPHAL, Aug 31: As a part of the continuous programme taken up by the Assam Rifles for the welfare of the people of Manipur, a one-day awareness cum training programme on agriculture and allied activities organized by 28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under the aegis of HQ IGAR(South) along with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) was held today at the Centenary Hall of Manipur University, Canchipur, Imphal.
Major General C A Krishnan, IGAR(S) and Prof. M Premjit Singh,Director of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal, graced the programme as the chief guest and president respectively.
The training programme was held in presence of many eminent scientists of KVK, experts in the field of horticulture, animal husbandry, piggery, fishery, fertilizer management, IPM and other allied activities. The programme also helped to impart training and spread awareness among the masses with respect to water conservation, agronomy, plant protection, fishery development, integrated farming system and value addition and women empowerment.
Approximately 740 villagers from Andro, Lilong, Singjamei and Canchipur attended the workshop during which they were given valuable techniques and suggestions by the expert from KVK.
An interaction session was also organised for the farmers to clarify their doubts about various Rabi crops with the expert team and leaflets on new agriculture methodologies and practice were also distributed to the farmers during the workshop. 
As a good will gesture Major General C A Krishnan, IGAR(S) also distributed rapeseed mustard VAR- 27 seeds to the farmers who attended the workshop.
