Passenger services resume

IMPHAL, Aug 24: Passenger services that have been under suspension for the last few days owing to the issue of rate have resumed with immediate effect.

The development comes subsequently after a joint meeting held this evening about 3 pm between the representatives of the Transporter’s and Drivers’s Council, All Manipur Light Vehicles (petrolauto/diesel auto/Tata Magic) Passenger Transport Adhoc Committee, Manipu, Transport department officials, Deputy SP (Traffic), Imphal West, Manipur and United Committee Manipur. The meeting was chaired by B.K Sharma Director (TPT).

A statement signed by the Director stated that after a threadbare deliberations, the meeting adopted few decisions which includes the existing, fare, freight and hiring charges notified under the Manipur Extra Ordinary Gazette No. 250 Thursday, October 16, 2008 shall be based while calculating and charging the fares till the same is revised by the state Government.

The office of the Director (Transport), Manipur shall initiate actions to analyse as to whether the existing fare structure is viable or need to revise, it said and asserted that the passenger service providers/Transporters in pursuing the concerned authorities for notifying upward revisions of fare, freight and hiring charges to the concerned authorities.

Further during the meet agreed upon that the UCM will assist the Transporters in pursuing the concerned authorities for notifying upward revisions of fare, freight and Hiring Charges and subsequently the Passengers service systems which was suspended for the last two to three days on the issue of rate of fare shall now be resumed with immediate effects, adds the statement.
