Phaiton tense after killing of ex-UG

Imphal, Aug 19: Tension remains high in Phaiton village in Tousem Sub-division of Tamenglong district under Jiribam police station today following the shooting down of a former cadre of the underground KNF (MC) near a river bank in Phaiton Part II village this morning.

According to a reliable source, the former activist of theĀ  underground KNF(MC) identified as Tolen Singson, 44, son of late Paokhodou of Phaiton Part-I village was reportedly shot down near a river bank in Phaiton village last night after he was kidnapped by two unidentified gunmen from his house last night.

The source further mentioned that the dead body of Tolen Singson was recovered by the local public from a river bank in Phaiton Part II village early this morning and the dead body was picked up this morning by the Jiribam police from the spot after the police were informed officially by the local village this morning. The body has been deposited at the Jiribam Community Health Centre morgue. The deceased was found to have sustained two bullet injuries at his upper chest and lower abdomen.

In the meantime, according to family sources, the deceased was called out from his house at Phaiton Part-I by two unidentified persons for discussing a important matter on the night of August 18 and after that the victim never returned home.
