Power minister made aware of power crisis

IMPHAL Aug 26: The Chairman of the Vision Foundation Manipur, K. Satyajit submitted a memorandum highlighting the power crisis prevalent in the state to the Union Minister for Power Sushil Kumar Shinde personally at New Delhi.

The memorandum states that the power supplied to the public is inadequate as only 180 hours of power supply is received by the consumers in a month and only 148 KWH was consumed in the state in 2009-10 which is among the lowest in the world.

The memorandum further urged the Power minister to intervene and initiate institution of a proper state power policy and the urgent need of a State Regulatory Commission Office at Imphal at the earliest along with the need to establish an energy and technical audit cell to ensure transparency and accountability.
