IMPHAL, Aug 23: In view of motivating the youths of the state into entering the administrative career, the state cabinet meeting held today under the chair of chief minister O. Ibobi has decided to give an incentive of Rs. one lakh to those persons who clear the preliminary examination of the combined civil services examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) every year.
According to sources, the cabinet decision was taken as a step towards motivating the IAS and IPS aspirants of the state to accomplish their dreams with the help of the incentives they would get after clearing the preliminary examination (prelims). Such incentives would definitely help in financing the coaching classes of the aspirants, said the source.
Another remarkable cabinet decision taken today was the enhancement of ration money of the state security personnel from Rs 575 to Rs 1000 per month for each personnel. Now the state security personnel would get about Rs 33 daily as their ration money with which they could somehow manage to have proper diet.
The devolution of power to autonomous district council (ADC) could not be finalized in today’s cabinet meeting. However, the matter is likely to be settled in a high level meeting to be held on August 25 at the chief minister’s cabinet hall.
The cabinet meeting further approved the tender for the construction of civil secretariat along with the creation of eight posts for the directorate of Management Information System (MIS) on regular basis including one post of system manager and two posts of computer programmers.
The cabinet also decided to grant liberalized pension under the new defined contribution pension scheme to the next of kin of (late) Havildar Somendro who was killed recently by a mob at Lilong Ushoipokpi.
