IMPHAL, Aug 18: Young Gun of SAI-RC (A-team) defeated MPSC (B-team) in the final of the 26th women state level Sepak Takraw championship today at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium.
In today’s match, both the players of SAI and MPSC were evenly balanced and hence the final match was a thrilling encounter and both the team were going neck to neck throughout the match.
However, in the first match of the league round, MPSC (C-team) defeated SAI (A-team) by 21-18, 17-21, 15-12.
Another finalist MPSC(B-team) too lost their league encounter against SAI-RC(A-team).
SAI-RC team has some prominent players who are present member of the Indian Team like Maipak (Tekkong) as well as young and talented players namely O Chaoba (supplier), Kh Priya (Striker) and W Bonny and W Promodini.
The MPSC too has three players currently in the Indian team namely E Romita (striker), M Ronita (supplier) and M Aruna (striker) along with Jina Akoijam and E Binalata.
SAI-RC eventually won the final match with 23-21, 22-20.
In the subjunior boys competition, quarter final line up have been made. The quarter final matches will commence tomorrow evening in which SWC will clash YAWA while in the second match SAI-RC (A) will meet YASTA. In the third match SAI-RC(B) will meet ALSA while in the last quarter final match will be played between SAI-RC(C) and PUC(A).
