Seven of 11 UGs held in Guwahati brought back

IMPHAL, Aug 26: Out of the 11 hardcore members of the proscribed UNLF who were recently arrested in Guwahati, seven cadres were brought back to Imphal this morning.
The cadres including a self styled lieutenant colonel was brought back by a team of Imphal West district police commandos by flight this morning around 9:30 am.

According to sources, out of the remaining four cadres one was reportedly freed by the concerned authorities at Guwahati for the individual turned out to be innocent. The rest of the three cadres will be brought to Imphal tomorrow morning and produced in the Cheirap court.

The identities of the seven cadres who arrived today were established as S/S Lt.Col. Khwairakpam Jiten alias Khomba of Sekmai, Maibam Sarat alias Chauren of Kongpal Kongkham Leikai, Wahengbam Noren alias Thoiba of Moirang Kampu, Th. Prem of Sagolband, Sinam Gune alias Wanglen alias Boy of Moirangkhom, Sougaijam Leirak, Oinam Naresh of Keishampat Aheibam Leikai and Sougaijam Rakesh of Moirangkhom Sougaijam Leirak.

It may be recalled that the 11 members of the outfit were arrested by the Dispur Mardharya and Geetanagar city police, Guwahati from various rented houses located in the area on August 18, and two Gypsy vehicles, five laptops, 20 mobile handsets, one satellite phone, five digital cameras, huge amount of cash and incriminating documents recovered from them.
