Two UGs held in CI operations

IMPHAL, Aug 20: The Imphal West district police commandos have arrested two militant cadres in separate counter insurgency incidents.

A statement issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police Imphal West district, L Kailun, said that acting on credible information, a team of the district police commandos arrested an active member of UNLF from Tera bazar yesterday around 3pm while his was coming on an Honda Activa.

The individual was identified as Leishangthem Nanao Singh alias alias Surchand alias Maikeilepa, 30, son of L. Udoi Singh of Tera Sapam Leirak (army No.2186).

It said that on spot verification, he disclosed that he joined UNLF in the month of October, 2007 through one S/S Sgt. Major Khomei. He got basic military training at Leitang (Chandel) in the 34th Batch. He is working in the organization section of the UNLF in Imphal West under one S/S Sgt. Major Robindro. Some incriminating documents relating to UNLF and one Honda Activa (dark blue) with Regn. No. MN0-5D/3619 were seized from his possession.

Another statement of the SSP, said that yet another active member of the proscribed KYKL was arrested by a team of the district police commandos yesterday around 10:30 pm from Naorem Leikai Sopha Leirak, namely Inaocha Sharma alias Imei alias Khangha alias Momo, 24, son of L. Nodiyachand Sharma of Thoubal Nongangkhong Makha Leikai (army No.632 of KYKL).

The statement said that on spot verification the individual disclosed that he joined KYKL in the year 2007 through one Herojit of Sarmaram and got basic military training at Tanam (Burma) in the 27th batch. He is working under the command of S/S Sergeant Major Prem alias Yaima from Wabagai. Moreover, he is actively involved in the Leimaram ambush on Bishnupur commandos under the command of S/S Sgt. Uttam fighting group.
