AR marathon for women

IMPHAL, Sep 12: The District TB Control Society, Tamenglong and the 11 Assam Rifles organized a Women’s Marathon at the district HQs on September 11 under the revised National Tuberculosis Control (RNTCP) on the theme ‘Innovation – On the Move Against Tuberculosis’.

As per a release, the main aim of the marathon race was to spread the awareness that TB is completely curable through the DOTS treatment. The race saw participation from 150 women above 18 years. Sharon Panmei of Dimthanlong, Tamenglong Ward (III) won the first prize of Rs. 5000, Tonsinliu Gangmei of Tamenglong Ward (X) won the second prize of Rs. 3000 and Ng.Atonmei of Tamenglong Ward (IV) won the third prize.
The event was witnessed by district level officers, public leaders, social workers, NGOs, and students alike and was graced by K.Panmei, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong, Col. PS Chhonkar, CO of the 11 Assam Rifles, KC Lokho, CO of the 5th MR Bn., Khonjaron and Dr.AK Khamba Singh, State TB Officer, Manipur.
