Bomb attack at UCM president’s residence

IMPHAL, Sep 23: Some unidentified persons suspected to be militants attacked the house of the president of the United Committee Manipur, Dilip Yumnamcha of Keinou Thongthak by placing a hand grenade their this morning. The house falls under Bishnupur police station.

According to family sources, the live hand grenade which was suspected to be hurled last night by the unidentified miscreants was recovered early this morning at the residential courtyard, following which the police were informed.

The family source said that the live grenade was removed safely by the police team from the spot with the help of the police bomb squad team and later exploded at the outskirts of Bishnupur Khwairakpam village around 11.30 am this morning.

The family recovered a piece of paper at one corner of the residence in which it was written ‘KCP (MC) (Lamyanba Khuman), District Commandar Nongdren Khomba Meetei Last warning and some phone numbers 9862195272, 97797822363758 were found written on the paper.

On the other hand, in connection with the bomb attack, the local public of Keinou staged a sit-in-protest today at Keinou Bazar, during which the family member further disclosed that none of the UG organisations had given any warning or monetary demands prior to the attack.
