JIRIBAM, Sep 4: The demand for a full-fledged district of Jiribam would be intensified after the Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) formed in November, 2006 is reconstituted in a general body meeting held today at Jiribam.

The general body meeting decided to adopt a new body consisting of 11 members of JDDC with W. Sobashini as the chairperson, L. Sushila as the vice-chairperson, M. Maipaksana as the convener and W. Dinesh as the co-convener.

It may be mentioned that the JDDC including 12 other organizations had launched stern agitations demanding a full-fledged district of Jiribam since 2006. The committee had burned down many government offices and even socially boycotted the local MLA as a part of their agitation movement.
