Drivers council takes over NH-53 repair works

Imphal, Sep 27: A team of Transporters’ and Drivers’ Council headed by its president H Ranjit have left Imphal to bring back the stranded vehicles along the National Highway-53 which have been immobilized since many days due to the landslides in between Nungba and Khambirol along the New Cachar Road.
According to a release the council team headed by its president are accompanying 40 trucks loaded with stones and three JCBs and were moving towards the area which has been hit by the landslides along the National Highway-53 this morning. The team is confident of bringing back the stranded trucks along the highway to Imphal within a few days.

The statement further mentioned that considering the stopping of construction works by the local contractors and BRO along the road, the council has stepped in to repair the bad portions so as to enable the transporters to ply along this road without hindrances.

The statement of the TDC further appealed to the general public not to be discouraged by the present situation and to use the road without any hesitation.
