Forests key to survival on earth, observes workshop

    Imphal, Sep 27: The inaugural function of a two-day training workshop for Forest officers on ‘Forest and Wildlife Conservation’ at the Conference Hall of the Forest Head Office, Sanjenthong was organized today by the Principal Chief Conservator of the Forest department, Government of Manipur.
    Dr. J Suresh Babu, IAS, Commissioner Forest and Environment attended the function as the chief guest.

    Speaking at the function, he stated that forests are the only available option for the survival of the earth from the harsh climate changes that are occurring today.

    He further elaborated that forest officers who have received training on wildlife conservation should maintain a good rapport with the public and spread awareness on climate change in order to maintain a healthy environment.

    He further mentioned that around 60 percent of the total state budget has been reserved for the Forest department and as such officials of the department should maintain a clear conscience while doing their duties.
