INTACH launches Imphal City Heritage Walks

    IMPHAL, Sept 26: The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, INTACH, Manipur Chapter has today launched a programme called Imphal City Heritage Walk, which seeks to educated school children in the capital city about the priceless cultural heritage in and around Imphal.

    On the launch day, a group of about 50 school children were given a guided tour of the historic Kangla Fort, once the ancient seat of power of the erstwhile kingdom of Manipur.

    The programme is part of a nation-wide campaign by the INTACH in collaboration with FOX History and Entertainment Channel to educate children of Classes VI to IX of the historical heritages in their cities.
    The programme has been underway since 2009.

    The objective is also to sensitise children on the need for conservation of heritage.
    Organisers said apart from the educational value, the programme is also meant as a fun day out for the children.
