Jayantakumar irresponsible: DESAM

IMPHAL, Sep 26: The Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has excoriated the state education minister L. Jayentakumar for failing to fulfill his responsibilities in the real interests of the students of the state.
A release of DESAM said that the recent rationalization process of school teachers and controversial primary teachers’ recruitment have indeed proved the incapability of L. Jayentakumar as a responsible minister of the state, and added that the chief minister has made a big blunder by assigning Jayenta an important portfolio like education.
It further mentioned that the rationalization of government school teachers has been a long cherished demand for DESAM as there are many irregularities in the teacher-students ratio in almost all government schools of the state. The number of teachers in most of the schools in Imphal area often exceeds the number of students while schools in far flung rural areas of the state have insufficient number of teachers rendering the whole education system of the state haywire, the release said.
The concerned minister, commissioner and director of the state education department have short-sighted vision resulting in such chaotic rationalization process of government school teachers in the state, it averred.
The release also stated that the education system of the state could have reached a new height if the education minister Jayentakumar was sincere enough to keep his promises made at various social functions of the state.
The DESAM also appealed to the chief minister to rectify and strengthen the present education system of the state before it gets worsened at the hands of irresponsible minister and officials of the education department.
