Kidnapped FCI officials released

IMPHAL, Sep 4: The two abducted Manipur FCI officials have been released without any harm by their captors on Saturday in Senapati district and this evening both the officials have safely reached their respective homes.

According to sources, FCI officials Laishram Ibomcha and Elangbam Pishak were released by the abductors at Soibung village at 1 pm today and from there the two officials came to the house of FCI assistant director Somi Puni by themselves at Senapati district headquarters at around 3 pm from where the police came and took their statements. After the necessary proceedings were done, the Senapati district police escorted the two officials to their respective homes this evening, the reports said.

Reports said that the captors did not harassed but simply confined in a house in one village in Senapati district.

 Laishram Ibomcha (50) of Thambalkhong and Elangbam Pishak (57) of Hiyanglam Awang Leikai were kidnapped on Tuesday from Senapati bazar reportedly by the cadres of NSCN-K.

 It is still not clear on what condition the two officials were released.

 Meanwhile, the Naga Peoples Organisation (NPO), the apex civil organisation body in Senapati district has expressed its gratitude to the kidnappers of Ibomcha and Pishak for releasing the two FCI officials without any harm. Few days ago NPO president M. Dili had appealed the kidnappers of the two FCI officials to release Ibomcha and Pishak immediately without any harm.
