Lack of funds curtail tourist spot plans

Imphal, Sep 26: The 1st State Level Angling Competition 2010, organised by the All Manipur Angling Association was held today at Ucheckon Lairenpat with MLA, Bijoy Koijam, Chairma State Planning Board as the chief guest.

MLA Bijoy Koijam while inaugurating the competition this morning at Ucheckon Lairenpat, disclosed there was a proposal from him for converting the said Lairen Pat as tourist spot during the last financial year but due to the shortage of funds for tourism the matter has not been taken up. With the availability of funds for tourism the proposal for establishing a tourist spot will be considered during this financial year.

He further mentioned that since the Angling competition is being organized for the first time in the state, there is not much to say. He will however see to it that the same is organized in the future years. The inaugural function was presided by Nabakumar Sharma, Vice preseident, All Manipur Angling Association.
In the meantime, over 300 participants participated in the fishing competition today which commenced from 10 am till 3 pm today.
