Media role in human rights protection discussed

IMPHAL, Sep 16: A one-day seminar on the ‘Role of Media in Protection of Human Rights’ was organized by the Editors’ Forum Manipur at the Manipur State Guest House conference hall this morning.

The seminar was formally inaugurated by  S. Mangi Singh, Retd (IIS) and former news editor of All India Radio, Imphal as the chief guest and S. Bharatbhusan, founder president of the Editors’ Forum Manipur presided over the inaugural session of the seminar today.

The technical session was moderated by Dy. Director AIR Imphal BB Sharma. Besides, resource persons like Dilip Yumnamcha, president of the UCM presented his paper on the topic “Violation of Human Rights by Human Rights Violation Laws”, Dr. Ch. Narendra, Advocate, on the topic “Compensation to people and the Violation of Human Rights”, and S. Jugol Singh, Editor of Meeyam, on the topic “Role of Media in Protection of Human Rights”. Various human rights activists as well as civil organizations also attended the seminar.
