MPP chief blames SPF government

IMPHAL, Sept 14: The president of the Manipur Peoples Party, Dr Nimaichand Luwang has categorically stated that most of the problems faced by the people of Manipur are due to poor governance and wrong policies of the SPF government led by chief minister O Ibobi Singh.

The MPP president said problems like unavailability of essential commodities, killings in fake encounters etc. are result of poor governance and the SPF government should be held responsible.

The MPP president was speaking at the inaugural function of Hiyanglam assembly constituency MPP block office at Langmeidong in Thoubal district.
Nimaichand further stated that Manipur is today known as crime capital in the country.

Expressing sadness over the manner in which the government of India in handling the issues confronting Manipur, the MPP president alleged that no official from the government of India visited the state during the height of economic blockade along national highways due to which people of Manipur suffer a lot.

The MPP president also stated that most of the incident in which suspected UGs or innocent people were killed by security forces came out to be fake. This is being revealed by the CBI report about the BT Road firing incident of July 23, 2009, the MPP president observed.

He also stated that people of Manipur should expressed condemnation to the statement given by the chief minister O Ibobi Singh regarding the July 23, 2009 BT Road firing incident in which two people were killed.

The chief minister had lied to the people by giving wrong information apart from misleading the House of the Manipur Legislative Assembly on the infamous BT Road firing incident of July 23, 2009, the MPP president said and demanded that the chief minister should resign on moral ground for giving such a wrongful information to the people.

Regarding numerous problems being faced by the people of Manipur in getting essential commodities and price hike in the wake of the ANSAM/UNC economic blockade, the MPP president said prices of essential commodities which were hiked during the height of economic blockade are yet to reduce till today and the government is remaining as a mute spectator.

The MPP president further said the trouble people of Manipur are getting at present could only be cured once the current government is withdrawn and the people of Manipur form a new government apart from Congress party.

Later, the MPP president inaugurated a newly constructed Community Hall cum Rest House constructed at Langmeidong Maning Awang Leikai.

The inaugural function was also attended by various leaders of MPP Thoubal and Langmeidong block.
