Nabbed robbers say cops in cahoots with them

IMPHAL, Sep 3: Some individuals involved in robberies have disclosed after being nabbed in the Singjamei area that they were in cahoots with some police personnel who were aiding them in carrying out the robberies.

Three individuals allegedly involved in various organized robbery in and around Singjamei area were apprehended from Singjamei super market at Chirom Leikai in the wee hours today.

The individuals have been identified as one H. Suresh, 18, son of Tomba of Chinga Makha Kshetri Leikai, Th. Somi, 18, son of Subash of Heirangoi Thong and L. Basanta, 41, son of Ibochouba of Chinga Makha Ningthoujam Leikai.

Reports said of the three individuals Suresh and Somi were caught at Singjamei Super market while trying to break in to a shop (Francis shop) belonging to one RK. Ingotomba of Chirom Leikai.

Ingotomba revealed that on noticing some strange sounds coming from his shop in the wee hours, he came out of his bed and went out to enquire when he saw two individuals fleeing from the spot suspiciously. Moments later the individuals returned to the place to collect a bag they left behind following which Ingotomba overpowered them.

The individuals later confessed that they were involved in many similar activities including today’s robbery attempt. Further the individual also disclosed that some police personnel were also involved in some huge robberies including the recent robbery at Archies Mobile shop at Singjamei Supermarket involving Rs. 9.30 lakhs. They further disclosed that a security vehicle is also being used in robbery.

The accused identified the other members of the gang who were allegedly involved in the robbery as Sarat, Jiten, Roshan, and some officials of the Kakwa police.
