GUWAHATI, SEPT 9: Assam police arrested two UNLF cadres from Guwahati
on last Friday. The arrested cadres are identified as SS Lt. Col.
Ningombam Dilip Singh (47) @ Ibochou @ Moni, deputy organization
secretary, from Singjamei Waikhom Leikai of Imphal West and SS Capt.
Jatishor Singh @ Telemba (37) Moirangkampu of Imphal East. 2 laptops,
8 Mobiles, 5 extra sims, 3 pendrives, 3 internet data cards, 2 SBI ATM
cards were in their possession at the time of arrest.
The police sources further disclosed that the two cadres had in their
bank account Rs 3, 58,046 and also 1 Panasonic handy cam, 1 Sony
digital camera and 1 Nikon digital camera. Rs 3, 65,000 were also
recovered from them. City police SSP Mr. Pradip Saloi said here last
month that 11 UNLF militant cadres were arrested from various places
of Guwahati.
The presence of large number of Manipuri militants in Guwahati had
worried police and other security agencies. In several attacks on
securities forces by ULFA in Guwahati, the banned militant outfit had
taken help from UNLF and PLA to carry out such attacks. As per
intelligence reports the ULFA was much close to UNLF and PLA than any
other militant outfits in northeastern region.
Such arrest of Manipuri militants in Guwahati is not new. Earlier too,
police with CRPF arrested several top leaders of UNLF, PLA, KCP, KYKL
and PREPAK. Recently the photos and incriminating documents recovered
from PLA had revealed that PLA had nexus with NDFB of Assam and how
the Manipuri militant outfits provided arms training to other
militants having bases in Bangladesh. The different communication
routes from Guwahati to other major places are much higher than any
other town on Northeastern region.
