Rajdeep Sardesai to be among speakers at Imphal meet on Sep 15

IMPHAL, Sep 5: Intellectuals from Manipur and also from outside the state including chief editor of CNN-IBN Rajdeep Sardesai will be meeting in Imphal on September 15 to deliberate on the state of affairs in Manipur.

The programme sponsored by the state government of Manipur under the theme ‘Manipur – The Way Forward” will be attended by top intellectuals of the region where the participants will present their respective papers.

Niketu Iralu of Nagaland and Lokendra Arambam of Manipur will dwell on the topic ‘Process for peace: Where do we go?’. Dr. Vijaya Lakshmi and Valley Rose will present papers on ‘Women voices in negotiating for peace,’ and Justice (retired) WA Shishak and Prof. Sadananda will present papers on ‘Peace road-map from senior citizens.’ Prof Gangmumei Kamei will deliberate on ‘Hill area governance’ while Dr. Dhanabir Laishram and T Lunkim will dwell on the topic ‘Partnerships for governance: The civil society perspective.’

Manipur director general of police (DGP) Y Joykumar and GOC DS Hooda will deliberate on ‘Policing and governance.’ Prof Amar Yumnam will present papers on the topic ‘Panacea for land locked economy’ while Imphal Free Press editor Pradip Phanjoubam will dwell on ‘Media spaces and dynamics in times of conflict.’ CNN-IBN chief Rajdeep Sardesai and The Shillong Times editor Patricia Mukhim will present papers on ‘Media mainstreaming: Let us look ahead’ while Dr. Elangbam Bijoy will deliberate on ‘Fiscal reforms and financial inclusion.’

According to the programme, Manipur Governor Gurbachan Jagat will also grace the occasion.

It’s really good to have these talks much more often then this one only, but we want the solution of these things by putting every available resources manpower and whatnot. also we want to consider the problem as for the whole of MANIPUR and not partwise as some intellectuals might want to put forward as their case. what those people should have in mind is that by separating the topics, will only lead to chaos which is not required right now and in the future as well. well everything is upto them coz we will not having any say in all such things and these will also be a closed house one not that every living soul of MANIPUR will acome to know about it, so be it but hope is that one day a change is beckonning pretty soon at our doorsteps. mind you all…..
