Red Shield trophy for students

IMPHAL, Sep 1: The Red Shield Division at Leimakhong has dedicated an inter-school sports and co-curricular activities trophy to foster the spirit of camaraderie and esprit-de-corps among the students and staff of leading schools in the region.

A release of PIB (Defence Wing) stated that in the first leg of this maiden venture an inter-school quiz and debate competition was held at Leimakhong under the aegis of HQ 57 Mtn Div. A total of six schools namely Manipur Public School, KV Imphal, KV Leimakhong, JNV Khumbong, Don Bosco High School, Lamphel and Sainik School Imphal participated in the competition in the inaugural edition of sports and co-curricular activities for Red Shield Trophy

The Red Shield Trophy has been instituted to provide a forum for exchange of healthy ideas, views among staff and students of these schools. The championship was inaugurated by Deputy GOC Brigadier RS Grewal today. The competing teams keenly contested for top honors during quiz and debate on the topic “Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) has brought Radical Changes in the Education System”.

The General Officer Commanding Major General DS Hooda, gave away the prizes to the winners. Master Dhana Kumar, Master Rinchin Namgey of Sainik School Imphal bagged first prize in Quiz. The second and third prizes were won by KV Lamphel and KV Leimakhong. In debate first prize was won by Ch. Babina of KV Lamphel, second prize by Cadet Lamtar Nasi of Sainik School, Imphal and Master A Geetchandra of JNV Khumbong got the third prize.

In the second leg of the competition these schools will participate in Basket Ball and Football competition to be held at Sainik School Imphal from September 6 to 9 where the GOC will preside over the function for award of the overall Red Shield Co-Curricular and Sports Championship Trophy.
