IMPHAL, Sep 18: A 30 years old rickshaw driver has been found murdered at local pond at Sagolband Sayang under Imphal West Police Station this morning at around 11:30 am.
The deceased who has been identified as one Sarat of Nungu Chairel village and presently residing at a rented house belonging to one Soraisham ongbi Lairentombi Devi of Sagolband Sayang Pukhri Maning, was reportedly recovered from the pond after the local people saw the dead body floating at the pond.
Immediately they informed the concerned police station who came and took the dead body for post mortem.
Besides the dead body was found with several bruise marks on his body which has made the police suspect of foul play.
The police suspect that he was put in the pond after being murdered by unidentified assailants last night.
According to a family source the deceased had left his present rented residence yesterday evening at around 9pm and never returned back, however there is suspicion of altercation between the deceased and some unknown persons near Sayang Pukhri Mapal as people in the nearby houses had heard some skirmishes. In this connection the police has registered a FIR, however no suspect has been arrested, till this report was filed.
