IMPHAL, Sep 20: A two-day workshop on Self Help Group Formation was today inaugurated by MLA O. Joy of Langthabal at the Women’s Education Development Association, All India Women’s Conference branch Manipur Training Hall, Langthabal Kunja this afternoon.
Speaking at the function O. Joy said that in the North east region out of 100 percent, 30 percent are economically, socially backward and setting up such self help groups to help their family economic condition is a must.
Unemployment crisis in Manipur is due to lack of industries, companies, and factories in the state, he said.
The MLA said that Manipur women are playing a big role in their families during the unemployment crises and further added that especially the young widows whose husbands were killed in conflict are requested to join such groups and start a new life.
During the function different women folks and official of the Women Education Development Association, All India Women’s Conference branch, Manipur participated.
