IMPHAL Sep 4: Highlighting the woes of the populace of Tamei, Village Authority Chairman Council of Tamei sub division (Tamenglong district) chairman Ch.Poujiang in a press communique has stated that the people of Tamei area are facing untold hardships in earning their meals and living a hand to mouth existence.
Despite the government promises for development, the sub division is cut off from the rest of the state in all aspects and is lagging behind in all round development as compared to other districts, the release said.
Further, the Imphal to Tamenglong road (IT Road) which is one of the oldest state highways connecting Tamei from Kangpokpi is in deplorable condition. A recent landslide caused by the incessant rainfall had cut off road connectivity to Tamei from Tamenglong and Kangpokpi and bus services were cut off for almost three weeks which resulted in the lack of essential commodities,the release said. In veiw of the public grevances suffering by the Tamei residents,the council appeals to the concerned department to address the situation for immediate bremedial measures.
