Textile training programme concludes

    IMPHAL, Sep 25: The closing ceremony of the 15 days training programme on Dyeing and three-day Managerial Training on Handloom Cluster organized by the Kabrabam Leikai Handloom Cluster under the Ministry of Textiles (Handloom) Government of India was held today at THAU Sports Complex.
    The ceremony was attended by Radhabinod Koijam, MLA Thangmeiband AC as the chief guest, T Rajen Singh, general manager DIC Imphal West as president and Dr Kh Somorendro, principal ICM Imphal along with P Meenakumari, project manager DIC Imphal West as guests of honour.
    The main highlight of the day was the distribution of certificates to 81 handloom weavers who had attended the training.
    Chief guest Radhabinod Koijam while speaking at the ceremony stated that Handloom products are not new in the state and that handloom products from the state are not only popular in the country but has also become internationally acclaimed.
    Stating that there are no industries in the entire north east region other than in Assam, the MLA also added that handloom products and Self Help Groups have been helping the state financially and improving the state economy.
    And as such the SHGs operating in the state should try and use the financial help received from the government in the most beneficial way, added the MLA.
