Two girls killed in road mishap

IMPHAL, Sep 18: At least two girl students who were riding pillion on a Honda Activa (scooter) were killed today morning when their scooter was knocked down by an army truck at Leimakhong Bazaar under Sekmai Police Station.

The two deceased minor students have been identified as Kamngougin Hangsing, aged 8 years, daughter of Chinglen Hangsing and Lammoulin Vaiphei,aged 7 years daughter of Lumkhong Vaiphei both resident of Leimakhong and students of KVS, Leimakhong.

According to a police source the accident occurred while both the deceased were riding pillion to one of their local elders on their way back home from school. Their ill-fated scooter was hit by one of the army trucks, which was amongst a convoy. Both girls died instantly at the spot. In connection with the incident the Sekmai police has registered a case today and their dead bodies have been handed over to their respective families after post mortem was done at the RIMS morgue, this afternoon.
