IMPHAL, Sep 27: A combined team of Imphal East district police commandos and 24 Assam Rifles today apprehended two cadres of KCP (Lamyaanba Khuman) and recovered five Chinese made hand-grenades properly concealed inside portable electric lamps.
The apprehended cadres have been identified as Hemam Boinao alias Boy Singh, aged 25 years, son of (L) H. Binoy Singh of Moirang Khoiru Leikai presently staying at Uripok Sorbon Thingel and Tekcham Ningol Mutum Ongbi Kiranmala, aged 35 years, wife of M. Shushil Singh of Khongjom Laibung Leikai.
Speaking to mediapersons today at his office chamber, Additional SP of Imphal East M. Rajen stated that Boinao was arrested from Kongpal Iranpham Thongkhong western side today at around 8:30 am and three Chinese made hand-grenades with three detonators recovered from him while Kiranmala was arrested from her residence at Khongjom Laibung at around 10:30 am and two more Chinese made hand-grenades with two detonators recovered from her.
All the hand-grenades recovered from the two cadres were found properly packed inside portable electric lamps and they were to be used in extortions in valley area. Boinao was also involved in the grenade attack carried out at the residence of Pradhan Dhiren of Moirang Kampu yesterday, the Addl. SP said.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Bishnupur police commandos and 4/8 GR apprehended another three cadres of the KCP (Lamyaanba Khuman) including two women yesterday at around 3:30 pm.
The apprehended cadres are Hodam Anita, aged 51 years, wife of Krishnakumar of Bishnupur, Thoudam Ibemcha alias Binita, aged 29 years, wife of (L) Samananda of Thanga Salam, and Kh. Dhanendra, aged 24 years, son of Kh. Merababu of Ningthoukhong.
The combined team has also recovered extortion notes from the apprehended cadres.
The Thoubal district police commandos also arrested one cadre of the PLA/RPF by the name Thounaojam Debendro, aged 43 years, son of Th. Babuchouba of Keirak Leirak Achouba, and another KYKL cadre by the name Nahakpam Ingocha alias Soken, aged 32 years, son of N. Tomba of Wangjing SK Leikai.
