IMPHAL, Sep 16: A 36-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries at the JNIMS Porompat today after she was allegedly beaten up by her husband.
The victim is identified to be one Ziansia Khonlu Anal, 36, wife of Mutum Herojit of Lalambung Makhong, at present staying at a rented house at Hatta, Imphal East district.
The accused Mutum Herojit was picked by the Porompat police, police sources said while adding that the husband and wife had a heated argument over the matter of pawning of gold ornaments.
The source further mentioned that the police made an investigation into the murder case and found out that the argument between the couple took an ugly turn following which Mutum Herojit assaulted Ziansia severly as a result of which she sustained serious injuries. She was rushed to JNIMS but succumbed to her injuries around 4:15 am this morning.
In the meantime, during the preliminary examination by the police it was found that the woman had bruise marks all over her body.
It has been reported that the husband registered her at the hospital stating that the victim fell from their bed. The two had been living together for about nine months and the victim is said to have been running a beauty parlor at Alugali in Imphal.
The dead body of the victim has been deposited at RIMS morgue owing to non-functioning of the cooling system of the morgue at the JNIMS due to irregularity of power.
