ZSU calls for bridging of hills-valley divide

IMPHAL, Sep 12: The Zeliangrong Students’ Union (ZSU) has submitted an open letter to the AICC Observer, PCC and DCC Manipur to bridge the hills and the valley divide. Stating that Manipur is constituted with tribes, castes and creed, the ZSU has stated that the ruling government led by O. Ibobi Singh has a majority representation from the Imphal valley. The ZSU further stated that the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and most of the Cabinet Ministers are from the valley area and the current SPF Government has only two representatives from the Naga community.

In the release, the ZSU has decried that the sentiments of the hills people should also be considered as priority to enable and strengthen the unity and integrity of the state. It further asserted that in order to avoid impending dangers to the government ahead within the state and to erase the mindset of deprivation which was felt by the people of the hill districts and to balance the gap between the hills and the valley, the present MPCC(I) President given another chance to retain its presidential post in the interest of the people of Manipur.
