Church leaders hold climate meet

    IMPHAL, October 29: The State Level Leaders’ Consultation on Climate Change, organized by the Network of Manipur Voluntary Organizations (NMVO) was held on October 27 at Tampha Hotel, Imphal in order to facilitate the churches for charting out mission strategy to combat climate change with common principle in the light of biblical teaching.
    Altogether thirty-five church leaders from nine major denominations representing twenty church associations came together and shared the major causes and impacts with special reference to Manipur/North East.
    According to the release, the leaders expressed that Christians ought to take the initiative as stewards of God’s creation. Further, the participants resolved to endorse the mission statement of NEI Church Leaders Consultation on climate change which was held in August earlier this year at Guwahati and further at the same time decided to meet again for further motivation and understanding of the issue by facilitating larger representation from the churches of Manipur.
    The participants also laid down certain “Faith in Action” to contribute towards a greener earth in small ways by the community in reducing 10% count of green house gas (GHG/CO2) by changing our institutional life style.
