IMPHAL, Sep 29: The Chief Minister of Manipur in a statement expressed his condolence over the sudden demise of Z. Mangaibou, former Minister.
In the statement the Chief Minister said that Z. Mangaibou was a man of principle and great political visionary. A soft spoken person he will be fondly remembered by all for his straightforwardness and good sense of humour. On his demise the state has lost a political leader who always stood for the welfare of the people, the CM said.
The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee and the Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress also expressed shock over the sad demise of Z. Mangaibou, member MPCC, ex-Minister. As a member of the Congress party the spirit and courage shown by him will be remembered by the people of this state forever. His death is an irreparable loss not only for the Congress party but also the people of Manipur, said the statement of the MPCC.
The Youth Congress said that a condolence meeting was held at the office of MPYCC, BT Road with Prithiviraj Singh, president MPYCC and office bearers of the MPYCC who observed two minutes silence.
At the same time, the Zelianrong Boudi Assam, Manipur and Nagaland in a statement also expressed their condolence over the demise of Mangaibou.
Z. Mangaibou is survived by his wife and five children. He was born on February 2, 1958 at Takou village, Tamei Block, Tamenglong district.
He was elected to the 7th Manipur Legislative Assembly on an M.S.C.P ticket in the year 2000, held the post of Deputy Speaker in 2001, and Minister of State (Works).
He was again elected to the 8th Manipur Legislative Assembly on an I.N.C ticket in 2002, and was Minister of State (Independent Charge) Adult Education, SCERT, Labour and Employment.
He was also the founder secretary, Liangmei Art and Culture Association, general secretary of Liangmei Students’ Union, Manipur and Nagaland from 1972-76, Secretary, Zeliangrong Students’ Union Manipur in 1977-78 and founder President, People’s Development Agency 1982.
