CoPTAM insist on boycotting ministers/MLAs

IMPHAL, Oct 23: The joint meeting of all the frontal organisations held on October 12 at Synod Hall, Churachandpur in connection with the boycotting of MLA’s/ministers and government officials and its functionaries, the CoPTAM strongly deplored some community leaders who deliberately defied its warnings by attending government’s programmes and activities.

While reiterating its firm stance on its cherished principles and objectives on the tribals’ rights and liberties, CoPTAM in a release said it was flabbergasted at the way the district administration has been inviting MLA’s/ministers and other government officials in Churachandpur intermittently, which implies janus-faced and double-standard attitude towards the age-old grievances and injustices of the subjugated/exploited tribal communities in Manipur.

It maintain that the CoPTAM will continue its genuine agitation until and unless the government fulfills its demands. Any govt. officials/individuals who further defy and/or ignore CoPTAM’s warnings shall be his/her sole responsibility, the released added.
