GOC opens Leimakhong computer centre

IMPHAL, October 21: Major General DS Hooda, VSM, General Officer Commanding Red Shield Division inaugurated Leimakhong Computer Training Centre at premises of Mountain Calvary English High School toda. The occasion was also graced by Mr Haokholet Kipgen (MLA Saitu) and Dr H Borojao (MLA Sekmai) alongwith a number of MDC representatives.

The computer training centre is equipped with computers, uninterrupted power supply, printers, training aids and computer furniture. The project has been funded by the Army as part of the Military Civic Action incorporating fully funded two courses as pioneer. This centre will facilitate Information Technology training for youth in and around Leimakhong. The courses will be conducted by Imphal Institute of Information Technology, Imphal affiliated to the Punjab Technical University. The courses will be run for a duration of three months with a batch strength of 25 students each.

This being the first computer training centre established at Leimakhong, it will go a long way to enable provision of information technology training at par with other areas of the country. The project has been successfully implemented by the Red Shield Signals as a tribute to the people of Manipur.
