Govt forces arrest two UGs and one sympathiser

IMPHAL, Oct 5: Security forces arrested at least two militant cadres and one overground worker in separate counter insurgency incident.
A statement issued by the PRO IGAR (S), discovering the presence of UG cadres in general area Sugnu Awang Leikai, troops of 21 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched operation in the area and apprehended one cadre of the proscribed PREPAK (GS) at around 4 pm on October 4, 2010. The individual was identified as No.2015 SS Cpl Ningthaujam Mani Singh,27 yrs s/o N Rajan Singh of Sugnu Awang Leikai and was handed over to Kakching Police Station.
In another incident, a team of the Imphal East district Commandos arrested one cadre of the proscribed UNLF namely Yumlembam Gopin Singh alias Leibakhomba, 35, s/o (L) Y. Rajendro Singh of Wangkhei Yumlembam Leikai from New Checkon.
A statement issued by the SP Imphal East district, Th. Radheshyam, on verification he disclosed that he joined the outfit in the month of December 1996 through one Nongal and He was Involved in extortion of money from the general public, Govt., businessmen etc.
In yet another incident, a combined troops of 12 MARATHALI  and 16 MARATHA LI under HQ IGAR (South)  launched joint  operation in general area  Nambol Kongkham Mamang Leikai  Ward No.8,  and apprehended  one  over ground worker of  KYKL  at around 02:10 am on 05 Oct 2010.
The apprehendee was identified as Wahengbam Umakanta Singh, 50 yrs, s/o Late Wahengbam Ibomcha Singh of Nambol Kongkham Mamang Leikai  Lamlai  Ward No.8, adds a stamemnt released by the PIB Defense Wing.
