IMPHAL, Oct 22: Counter insurgency operation carried out by a combined security team had to be pulled off prematurely this morning following an accidental firing by a participating security personnel who hurt himself due to the gunfire.
Reports said a combined team of Bishnupur CDO, 12 Maratha Light Infantry and 4/8 Gurkha Regiment were launching a joint operation at Ichumkhong near Shadu Chiru Waterfall area under Nambol police station this morning.
The report further said a personnel of the Bishnupur police CDO identified as Angte Maring, 30, son of Leinei of Khumbi village, Chandel district hurt himself when he fired accidentally the rifle he was holding.
The bullet passed through his right calf and at present he has been lodged at the security ward of RIMS but his condition is stated to be out of danger.
