Parliamentary team on official language arrives in Imphal

IMPHAL, Oct 24: A Parliamentary team on official language led by the Rajya MP Satyabarta Chaturvedi arrived today in Imphal on a three days visit.

While responding to queries on the purpose of the team’s visit at the Tulihal airport, Chaturvedi disclosed that ‘This is a Parliamentaty committee on official language. The function of the committee is to go around the country and visit the establishment of India to see whether the implementation of language Act is being done sincerely or not’.

Further he asserted that the team will be conducting a spot inspection of various Government institute and establishment which included CIPET Takyelpat, SAI and BSF, Koirengei etc, to see the implementation of the language act has done under the commission is progressing efficiently. During the inspection tour the team will also discussed with the local authorities about the difficulties being faced and give advice to them to overcome it.

Altogether 11 MPs will be arriving however only 4 MPs including Chaturvedy who is also the deputy chairman of the commission arrived today while the other remaining MPs is expected to arrive tomorrow.

After the inspection a meeting is also convened at the old secretariat with the concerned authorities followed by meeting with the Chief Minister of Manipur.

The team was received by the sector head quarter BSF Koirengei and concerned Government officials.

The team will leave Imphal for Dimapur on October 26, morning.
