IMPHAL, Oct 12: In an official notification, the District Magistrate, Imphal East District, Manipur has under the powers conferred under the Sub-section 2 of section 144 Cr.P.C has prohibited the assembly of 5 (five) or more persons or carrying arms & objects such as sticks, stones, firearms and weapons of any other kinds within the said area until further notice is issued. As per the notification, the order exempts the government agencies, involved in the enforcement of law and order and maintenance of essential services. Further, it has asked people who want to take out procession, public meeting, rally etc to seek permission and not undertake the procession etc unless prior permission is obtained by them.
