Six UGs rounded up by govt forces


    IMPHAL, Oct 29: Altogether six cadres belonging to different UG groups were arrested by security forces during counter insurgency operations conducted in different areas of the state.

    Two teams of CDO Imphal East arrested one female cadre of KCP (MC), namely Wahengbam (O) Subadani Devi (45), w/o Rupachandra of Yumnam Patlou Mayai Leikai, on October 26 at about 3:30 pm from the gate of Bihari College, Khundrakpam, said a release of Addl. SP (Ops) Imphal East.

    In another incident, a combined team of Imphal West district police commandos and 39 AR apprehended an active member of KCP from Thangmeiband Lilashing Khongnangkhong, namely Tonjam Arjun Singh @ Neon (25), s/o Bhubon of Lilong Chajing Pukhri Achouba Mapal, said a release of SSP Imphal West.

    In a joint operation, the troops of 12 Madras and 12 Maratha LI also apprehended one s/s lieutenant Thoudam Bobby Singh @ Laisana @ Ibomcha (33), s/o Jogeshwar of Thoubal Mayai Leikai, along with one 9mm pistol and some ammunitions.

    The troops of 16 Maratha LI and IGAR (S) also nabbed a cadre of UNLF, namely s/s lance corporal Sana Takhellambam (30), s/o Khusa Takhellambam of Saiton Khunou, said a release of PRO IGAR (S).

    Discovering the presence of UG cadres in general area Lamjao of Ukhrul district, troops of 21 Assam Rifles and 23 Assam Rifles under HQ IGAR (South) launched joint operation in the area and apprehended two UNLF cadres at around 01.30 am on 28 Oct 2010.

    The apprehendees were identified as Sh Ojit Sharma, 37yrs, s/o B Laljit Sharma, r/o Lamjao and Sh Thoinaojam Arun Kumar, 41 yrs, s/o Ibocha Singh, r/o Lamjao Makaha Leikai.12 x live rounds of AK 47 and 09x Detonators were recovered from the apprehendees who alongwith recoveries were handed over to Kakching Police Station.

    In another incident, troops of 29 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched operation in general area Tengnoupal and apprehended a Myanmarese National at around 11:30 pm on 26 Oct 2010. The apprehendee was identified as Md Ali, 30 years, s/o Md Upali, r/o vill Kopao, PO Molmin, Myanmar. 01 X Myanmar I/Card and Indian currency Rs. 450/- were recovered from the apprehendee who alongwith recovered items handed over to Tengnoupal Police Station.
