Skills development training camp concludes


IMPHAL, Oct 13: The closing function of the three days Skill Development Programme on Dish Wash, Detergent Powder and Decorative Items for the Self Help Groups of Thangmeiband Kendra organized by the Unted Self Help Group Coordination Committee, Thangmeiband Kendra in collaboration with NCUI-Women Cooperative Education Project, I/W was held today at the Thangmeiband residence of Jyotin Waikhom, Social Worker of Thangmeiband Hijam leikai.
The function was attended by M Prithiviraj Singh, MLA Moirang Assembly constituency and president MPYCC as chief guest, Kh Borkeshor Singh chairman, Institute of Cooperative Management, Imphal as president and Jyotin Waikhom, social worker and member MPCC along with A Jiwanlata Devi, councilor IMC ward no 2, Thambaljao Phaomei councilor IMC ward no 25 and S Surangini councilor IMC ward no 3 as guests of honour.
M Prithiviraj Singh, while speaking as the chief guest of the function has elaborated on the need of awareness regarding Self Help Groups for self employment.
He has stated that the Manipuri society being a women oriented society we should try to find alternatives other than just relying on the government for jobs.
While implying that the people of the state is more oriented towards luxury goods, he has added that the state needs to generate income wherein lies the need of the SHGs.
Jyotin Waikhom in his speech has stated that SHGs in the state have been reduced to a loan generating method with no one ever thinking of repaying back the loans.
Around 50 SHGs participated in the said three days training.
