TRAU manager, assistant banned from MSL-2010 matches

IMPHAL, Sept 29: All Manipur Football Association has banned both the manager and assistant manage of the Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) from their posts till the end of the 5th MSL and imposed a fine of Rs 2500 each for allegedly instigating and indulging in physical attack on referee during a MSL match played between TRAU and NISA on September 25 at Mapal Kangjeibung.

The decision to award punishment to the two TRAU officials was arrived during Executive Council meeting of the AMFA held today in which report of the referee of the particular match was examined thoroughly.

The AMFA also declared that three TRAU players will also be suspended for some matches due to their actions against the referee. All of them have also been imposed a fine of Rs 3000 each payable on or before the expiry of their debarred periods.

The players are L Tiken (J. No. 11), E Abocha (J. No.13) and Th Netaji (J. No. 17).

While Tiken has been barred from playing next five immediate matches of TRAU in MSL, Abocha and Netaji have been barred from playing in two and three TRAU matches.

Mention may be made that MSL match between TRAU and NISA played on September 25 at Mapal Kangjeibung took ugly turn when referee awarded a penalty in favour of NISA in the dying minutes of the match when TRAU was leading 1-0.
The match eventually ended in a 1-1 draw and some TRAU players and officials along with some fans launched physical attack against the referee and an off duty referee.
