Union Minister Agatha Sangma defers her visit to Ukhrul

    Imphal, Oct 25 (NNN): Union Minister of State for Rural Development Agatha Sangma has deferred her visit to Ukhrul town of Manipur.

    According to Ashang Kasar, chairman of the Ministry for Peace and Development (MPD), Agatha Sangma was supposed to grace the four-day Festival of Fraternity which will kick off from October 27, however owing to the municipality elections in her home state Meghalaya, Agatha Sangma has deferred her visit.The first phase of polling is scheduled in Garo Hills on October 29.

    Informing this to Ashang Kasar both in written as well verbally, the Union Minister tendered her apology for the inconveniences created by her to the people of Ukhrul district.

    Meanwhile, Ashang Kasar said that the programme has been postponed for about a month following the present development. The organising committee of the programme also expressed their regret for all the inconveniences cropped up. However, it assured the people that the programme will definitely be held after about a month.

    The Festival of Fraternity under the theme ,`Compassion` was to be organised jointly by Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long and Ministry for Peace and Development in Ukhrul town.
