Unknown assailaints make bomb attacks at two homes, luckily no casualties

IMPHAL, October 25: Miscreant made a bomb attack at the residence of a sub-contractor at Lamsang Taothong Apheiba under Lamsang Police station late last night.

The contractor is identified as one Meitram Kesho, 50, s/o (L) Meitram Gopal.

According to reports the incident occurred around 11:40 when miscreants lobbed two grenades inside the residential compound of Kesho. One out of the two grenades exploded while the other failed to explode. However no major damage or casualty was reported from the explosion.

Talking to media persons the victim Kesho disclosed that he does not have any enmity or threat with anyone, however he opined the attack could be politically motivated.

He revealed that this was the fifth attacked on his residence. Kesho filed a complaint to the police for security for him and his family.

Further, local sources informed that right after the explosion two youths suspected to be the perpetrators hurried away from the area and fired two rounds in the air to scare people away.

Denouncing the attack women folk of the area staged a sit in protest demonstration at Taothong bazaar.

In another bomb attack related incident, unidentified miscreant hurled a hand grenade this evening at the residence of retired executive engineer of PWD electrical circle.

The official who is identified as one Salam Biren, 65, s/o (L) Babu of Keishampat Thiyam Leirak, found the unexploded bomb lying at his residential courtyard at around 6:30 pm this evening while coming back from his evening walk.

The motive behind the bomb attack could not be ascertained as no individual or organisation has claim responsibility so far.

While a case has been filed by the Imphal West Police station after the bomb was safely retrieved by a team of the Imphal West Police station, the retired official has also appealed to the concern and responsible individual or organization to clarify the motive behind the bomb attack.

In the meantime, a mass sit in protest was staged today at the Nambol Bazar Bus parking demanding justice to the killing of Thokchom Sanayamba, a resident of Nambol Thiyam Awang Leikai.

Sanayamba who was a Zilla Parishad member of Utlou Gram Panchayat was shot death at point blank range inside his own residence in front of his wife on October 23 night in Bishnupur district under Nambol Police station.
